The core of the new iWatches are all the same (pretty neat). The variety of band styles is most interesting. It jibes with an article I read on smart watches a year or two ago--that the reason so many have failed, and will continue to fail, is because of design. That is, no one wants to wear something that looks "space age/Star Trek" on the wrist, despite wanting to have technology on the wrist. Ergo, a smart watch needs to look as nice as any other watch in order for a person to feel comfortable wearing it. It looks like, with everything from silicone sports bands, to 24K gold bands, to choose from, the iWatch has succeeded in making tech wearable.
Since I predict that the iWatch will become very popular, I'm wondering if high-end watchmakers (Rolex, Blancpain, Audemars Piguet, Breguet, etc.) will forego competing with the Apple iWatch directly, and instead start making bands and cases that fit Apple's new wristwatch.
